International Studies @ B.E.S.T.
It is an unfortunate fact that university places within Sri Lanka are very difficult to secure as, even with top ‘A’ grades; there are simply not enough vacancies available to meet the demand. However, at B.E.S.T. we believe that should not be the end of students’ hopes and dreams for a better future; not when the rest of the world is still there to be conquered.
That is why B.E.S.T. have taken steps to establish formal links with many leading universities and colleges across the globe, to enable us to help students continue their education to Bachelors and Masters Degree standards and beyond. Be it to Western or Eastern Europe, North America, Australia, Asia, the Northern or the Southern Hemispheres, B.E.S.T. will endeavour to point a student in the right direction to meet their personal circumstances and individual requirements.
We can find suitable courses, with internationally recognised qualifications, in virtually every field of endeavour from Aeronautical Engineering through to Zoology. In many cases these courses can be taken in ways that can substantially reduce the cost and financial burden to parents as well.
Many parents and students do not realise that International college and university places are not dependent solely on having good ‘A’ level results; good ‘O’ levels count too. For example, a one year Foundation Course at a Community College in California in the USA can then lead on to a guaranteed place at even an elite American ‘Ivy League’ University thereafter – all with only a handful of ‘O’ Levels to show at the beginning!!
That is why we recommend that parents and students should both give VERY serious thought to whether or not it is better to spend an extra couple of years gaining ‘A’ levels in Sri Lanka - with no promise of a university place, or instead to study abroad leading to a guaranteed potential university placement as a reward.
So, before it is too late and you make a disastrously wrong decision, we recommend to all students and their parents that they should at least speak to our International Studies Advisor here at B.E.S.T., prior to finishing ‘O’ levels, to find out exactly what options are truly available.
